Family-owned in Garland since 1994

The family behind the chair

One family, one shop,
thirty years running.

Cuts & Styles by Duran isn't a franchise or a chain that rotates through faces. It's the Mendez family — and it has been since 1994.

01

The Mendez family

Marcial Mendez — the “Duran” on the sign — opened the shop on Main Street in 1994 as a Master Barber. Three decades later he's still there, now working alongside his son Abner and a small team of stylists. Between them the family carries four generations of barbering, and it shows in the details: the exact-to-request cut, the clean line-up, the hot straight-razor finish.

The proof is in who keeps coming back. Customers who first sat in these chairs twenty years ago still book with the same barbers — some now bringing their own kids and grandkids. That kind of loyalty isn't bought with a coupon. It's earned one honest cut at a time.

And because a barbershop should serve the whole household, we grew into a full salon too — color, highlights, perms, and women's styling right alongside the classic barber work. Same room, same standard, same family.

The owner does your cut

Walk in and there's a real chance Duran or Abner is the one in the chair beside you — not a rotating stranger.

2

Detail is the whole point

A complete custom cut and a straight-razor neck shave — the finish reviewers mention by name, again and again.

3

We keep our word on hours

Walk-ins welcome, and we honor the hours on the door. Nobody gets turned away early because it's almost closing.

Behind the chairs

The people who'll cut your hair.

Marcial “Duran” Mendez

Master Barber and founder. Opened the shop in 1994 and still works the chair — the phenomenal owner-done cut reviewers rave about.

Abner Mendez

Duran's son and the next generation on the tools. Carries the same eye for detail and the straight-razor finish the shop is known for.

The full team

Alongside the family, barbers and stylists including Heidi Mendez, Daniel, Lorenzo, and Rafael cover everything from fades to full salon color.

Word of mouth

“Been going there for over 20 years. And it's still the best.”
