Our story
One family, one kitchen,
two decades in Plano.
La Peñita opened its doors in 2003 with a simple idea: cook the food we grew up on, the way our family always made it, and share it with our neighbors in Plano. Twenty years later, we’re still right here inside Plano Bazaar — same recipes, same hands, same welcome.
From our kitchen to your table
Everything starts fresh in the morning. We press our own tortillas, marinate the al pastor and stack it on the trompo, slow-cook the birria and carnitas until they fall apart, and grind our salsas by hand. Nothing sits, nothing comes from a bag — if it’s on the plate, we made it that day.
Being family-owned isn’t a marketing line for us; it’s who’s actually behind the counter. You’ll see the same faces every visit, and after twenty years a lot of our regulars feel like family too. We remember your order, and we’re happy you’re back.
We’ve stayed small on purpose. One location, one kitchen, all our attention on getting every plate right. That’s how a little taquería inside a Plano bazaar earned a 4.6-star reputation the honest way — one taco at a time.
Made fresh, every day
Tortillas pressed, meats slow-cooked, salsas ground by hand — from scratch, first thing in the morning.
Recipes from home
The dishes our family has cooked for generations, exactly the way they’re meant to taste.
Everybody’s welcome
Bring the kids, bring the crew, bring your appetite. Big portions, fair prices, no fuss.
Our promise
“If it isn’t food we’d proudly serve our own family, it doesn’t leave our kitchen.”
