The record

Four decades,
one standard.

Mike Stubbs started MS Concrete in Iron County in the 1980s. The company grew the old-fashioned way — job by job — from residential work into full subdivisions, then into commercial and civil projects across Southern Utah. Same name, same phone, same standard.

1980s — Founded in Iron County

Mike Stubbs starts MS Concrete, pouring residential concrete in and around Cedar City.

’90s–2000s — Subdivision work

The crew moves from single jobs to full subdivision packages — curb & gutter, sidewalks, and flatwork at scale.

Late 2000s — Commercial & civil

When the housing market turned, MS Concrete expanded into commercial and civil infrastructure work rather than shrinking.

Today — Curb to civil, all of it

Documented projects in Cedar City, St. George, Washington City, Hurricane, and Milford — residential, commercial, and civil.

Built for this climate

Concrete at 5,800 feet is a different sport.

Cedar City sits near 5,800 feet, where concrete freezes at night and bakes by afternoon for months at a stretch. Freeze–thaw cycles destroy shortcuts: bad base prep, missing control joints, and rushed finishing all show up by the second winter. That's why our standard is the boring stuff done right — compacted base, correct joints, proper cure — on every pour, from a patio to a curb line.

Base & subgrade first

A slab is only as good as what's under it. Grading and compaction come before any concrete truck shows up.

Joints where they belong

Control joints placed for the slab, not for convenience — so cracking happens where it's planned, not where it's ugly.

Finished for the freeze

Finish and cure matched to high-desert conditions, so surfaces hold up through the freeze–thaw seasons Cedar City actually gets.
